Located in Missoula, Green Bench Orchard is approaching their tenth year of u-pick fruit picking – starring apples! This farm started planting apple trees in 2011 and raspberries in 2014. This orchard is Missoula’s only USDA-certified organic u-pick apple and raspberry orchard. You truly can’t get any fresher fruit than picking it yourself straight from the tree. Organic fruit just tastes better! This family-friendly orchard always has fruit available at a level children can reach.
Green Bench Orchard hosts 8 varieties of apples, including Honeycrisp, Goodland, Goodmac, Kerr Crab, Liberty, Spartan, Wealthy, and Haralson. Visitors pay by weight, and the orchard provides bags to use for picking. The many varieties of apples are used for different things. Honeycrisp, for example, has a sweet, tart taste that is ideal for eating fresh, using in crisps or pies, making into applesauce, or cooking to make apple butter. Wealthy apples are great eaten fresh, used in applesauce and apple cider, or baked into a crisp. There is something for everyone at Green Bench Orchard.
