When it comes to beating the heat, there’s nothing better than an outing to a water park. Whether it’s screaming down waterslides or getting in a splash fight, water parks are the perfect way to cool off and enjoy quality family time. The good news is that you don’t have to travel far! Here are my favorite water parks in Missoula.
Playfair Park, 3001 Bancroft St, Missoula, MT, 59801
Open from June through August, Splash Montana is your Missoula destination for summer water park fun. Featuring three-story waterslides, a lazy river, and multiple floating play structures, your adventurous little ones will have a blast. For parents wanting a moment to relax, Splash Montana offers cabana rentals at their Ranger Station, as well as delicious food at the Crazy Creek Café and Fireline Grill. Splash Montana also has The Lake, an Olympic-sized swimming pool with 50-meter and 25-meter lanes. Splash Montana does request that adults always remain within arm’s reach of non-swimmers and children under 7. They also offer life jackets and swimming lessons for those interested. You can even plan your birthday party or other special events at the park. City residents can save 20% on admission when you show your CityCard.
McCormick Park, 600 Cregg Lane, Missoula, MT, 59801
Who said that enjoying the water has to just be a summer thing? Currents Aquatic Center is an indoor water park open year-round in Missoula. For the thrill-seekers in your life, they do have exciting waterslides and a children’s water playground. The main star of the show, however, is Currents’s fitness pool. There, you can swim laps, join a water aerobics class, or even sign your kids up for lessons aligning with the American Red Cross’s Learn To Swim program. Currents Aquatic Center also has a spa! Should you be interested in hosting a birthday party or other special event, the center’s Ripples Party Room can fit up to 20 guests. Children 6 and under must be accompanied in the water by an adult, and loaner life jackets are available. It’s worth keeping an eye on Currents Aquatic Center’s website, too, as they regularly host fun events like dive-in movies.
Water parks in Missoula are truly a great place to spend a day as a family with something for everyone. Enroll your littlest ones in swimming lessons, ensuring that they learn essential life skills in a safe and controlled environment. Meanwhile, your older kids can dive again and again down the waterslides. I promise they’ll be begging you to go back!
