The Missoula PaddleHeads Offer The Perfect Family Outing Idea

As a Missoula family photographer—and a mom—I’m always on the lookout for activities that feel like an event but don’t require a ton of planning or packing. That’s why a night (or afternoon!) at a Missoula PaddleHeads game is such a win for families. It’s got the excitement of sports, the comfort of being close to home, and all the little things that make an ordinary day feel special.

About the Missoula PaddleHeads

700 Cregg Ln, Missoula, MT 59801

The Missoula PaddleHeads are Missoula’s beloved minor league baseball team. They’re more than just a sports franchise—they’re a central part of the community. The team was formerly known as the Missoula Osprey and got its fresh identity in 2019. Complete with a moose-themed logo and a fun, family-focused atmosphere that invites fans of all ages! Ogren Park at Allegiance Field sits right along the river, making it one of the most beautiful ballparks you’ll ever visit.

For kids, it’s exciting from the minute you walk in—music playing, fans cheering, and the PaddleHeads mascot making goofy appearances throughout the game.

All Fun At The Missoula PaddleHeads

A game with the Missoula PaddleHeads is a full experience. Families can enjoy classic ballpark snacks (think popcorn, hot dogs, and snow cones), comfortable seating with great views, and easy in-and-out access for little legs that like to move.

What really stands out, though, is how kid-friendly the park is. There’s often a kids’ play zone, plenty of space to walk around, and welcoming staff that doesn’t mind a bit of noise or excitement. It’s a great environment for introducing little ones to the game, without the pressure of a massive stadium or overwhelming crowd.

Specialty

The PaddleHeads are known for their themed nights, and special events that make each Missoula game feel a little different. From fireworks shows and “Bark in the Park” nights to Star Wars themes, kids’ giveaways, and family discount nights, there’s always something going on beyond the game itself. These extras are what make it feel more like a party than just a sporting event.

And, of course, there’s the mascot, Paxton, the moose, who’s always up for a photo or a high five. For kids, he’s often the highlight of the night.

Local Families Can’t Get Enough Of The Missoula PaddleHeads

Baseball with the Missoula PaddleHeads is more than just a game. It’s a chance to spend a summer evening outdoors, surrounded by community, laughter, and the simple magic of cheering on the home team. Whether your kids are old enough to follow every pitch or just want to chase bubbles and eat ice cream, there’s something for everyone at Ogren Park. It’s a memory-maker, plain and simple. It is one of our favorite ways to enjoy a Missoula summer together as a family.

If these are the kinds of moments you want to hold onto forever, I’d love to help. As a Missoula family photographer, I specialize in capturing the joy, energy, and connection that make your crew unique. Whether it’s at the ballpark, the river, or your favorite spot in town. Let’s plan a session that celebrates your season and your story.
