When you are planning your birth, you need a center that will prioritize your voice. Unfortunately, some hospitals prefer to treat delivery with a copy-and-paste view, taking on a cold and clinical approach with every single patient. When you are written out of your plan, it can lead to an overwhelming–even traumatic–experience that will forever shade your birth story. Luckily, there are several hospitals out here that take a patient-centered approach to their care. As a Missoula birth photographer, I have gotten the chance to get pretty familiar with the different local options for your delivery. If you are looking for wonderful birth centers in Missoula for your childbirth, here are two spots I always recommend.
6 13th Street East, Polson, Montana 59860
The Family Maternity Center in St. Patrick Hospital is all about putting delivery back in your hands. With this birth center, your care will start when you partner with one of their Missoula OB-GYNs. Your provider will consistently be there to guide you through preventative care so you can be in optimal health for your delivery. They also provide you with a number of childbirth classes that will have you feeling prepared for the second those contractions start.
During your pregnancy, you will work with your provider to create a birth plan. Then, throughout labor, they will work to honor this as much as possible. They welcome doulas to be there throughout the entire process. If you choose to have an unmedicated delivery, they will empower you so you can have your ideal experience. They have labor, delivery, and postpartum suites that will keep you in one comfortable space throughout your entire stay, and your baby will room in with you following their arrival.
2827 Fort Missoula Road, Missoula, Montana 59804
At Community Children’s birth center, you will have control over your Missoula experience from the very beginning of your pregnancy. The center offers both traditional OB-GYNs and midwives, letting you choose your ideal model of care. Throughout your pregnancy, you are going to work with your provider to figure out what you want your delivery to look like. They will make sure you feel ready so you can transform your vision into a reality.
Once you are admitted, you will have several options. Throughout your labor, you will be in a large room that’s designed to feel more like a home than a hospital. The center has traditional pain management, including epidurals. If you would prefer a non-medicated option, you will have access to nitrous oxide. They let you include a doula if you’d prefer, and you will be able to have your family with you. Immediately following delivery, they will make sure you can have plenty of skin-to-skin time with your baby.
With these birth centers in Missoula, you can have your perfect delivery. Now, you just need to find a way to remember it. That’s why I’m here!
